|---|---|---|
| K1 Annual Scholarship | Unmarried girls aged 13–18, studying in Class VIII–XII (or equivalent) | ₹1,000 per year |
| K2 One-Time Grant | Unmarried girls aged 18 to under 19, enrolled in education or vocational/technical training | ₹25,000 (one time) |

K3 is paid monthly and run through the Higher Education Department’s Swami Vivekananda Merit-cum-Means (SVMCM) portal. Always confirm the current figure on the official portal.
Kanyashree Prakalpa Benefits
- Yearly cash support (K1) for every year a girl stays in school and remains unmarried.
- Big one-time grant (K2) of ₹25,000 for higher studies, training or livelihood.
- Postgraduate support (K3) so girls can continue after graduation.
- Direct bank transfer, which also helps girls open and use their own bank accounts.
- Delays early marriage because payment depends on staying unmarried and in education.
Kanyashree Prakalpa Eligibility
- Permanent resident of West Bengal and unmarried at the time of application.
- K1: age 13 to 18; studying in Class VIII–XII in a government-recognised school or equivalent open school/vocational course.
- K2: age 18 to under 19; still studying (Class XII, college, diploma, ITI, etc.) or in recognised training.
- K3: must already be a K2 beneficiary, with at least 45% in the UG degree and admission to a PG course in a university (open/distance university students are not eligible). There is no maximum age.
- Family income: annual family income of ₹1,20,000 or less. This ceiling is waived for orphans, girls with 40% or more disability, and inmates of Juvenile Justice homes.
- The Class VIII condition for K1 is also waived for girls with 40% or more disability.
Kanyashree Prakalpa Financial Assistance
After your institution enters and the district authorities approve the application, the money is credited straight into the girl’s bank account. K1 is paid every year (renew each year while you remain eligible). When a K1 girl turns 18 she applies for K2 using the pre-printed K2 Upgradation form from her school or college. K3 is applied for separately on the SVMCM portal.
Kanyashree Prakalpa Required Documents
- Birth certificate issued by the Municipal or Panchayat authority
- Unmarried status declaration signed by your parent or guardian
- Enrolment and attendance certificate from your Head of Institution
- Family income certificate showing annual income of ₹1,20,000 or less (not needed for orphans, specially-abled girls or JJ Home residents)
- Bank account details (account in the girl’s name, with passbook details) and a passport-size photograph
Tip: keep photocopies of every document and the bank passbook first page ready before collecting the form.
Kanyashree Prakalpa Form Fill Up
- Collect the form free of cost from your school or college. The K1 form is printed on light green paper; K2 has its own form (K1 recipients turning 18 get a pre-printed upgradation form).
- Fill in all details in block letters exactly as in your birth certificate and school records: name, date of birth, parent/guardian, class, institution, address.

Kanyashree Prakalpa Online Apply: Is It Possible?
No, a student cannot apply fully online on her own. K1 and K2 applications go through your school or college, and the institution enters your data on the portal. The process is:
- Submit to institution: hand the filled form and documents to your Head of Institution.
- Get an acknowledgement slip: ask for the signed receipt/acknowledgement slip and keep it safe.
- Portal entry: the institution verifies eligibility and uploads your details on wbkanyashree.gov.in.
- Application ID: an application ID is generated; ask your school for it. After district-level verification and approval, payment goes to your bank account.
How to Track Your Application Status
- Open wbkanyashree.gov.in.
- Find the application status / track option on the home page.
- Enter your Application ID (and any other detail asked, such as date of birth) and submit.
- Check whether it shows submitted, verified, approved, or payment done. If it shows an error, ask your school to correct it.
- Still stuck? Contact your institution, the District Kanyashree/Social Welfare office, or the helpline 1800-102-8014 (email: support.kanyashree@wb.gov.in). These contact details are as listed by a scholarship directory, so verify them on the official site.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I get both K1 and K2?
Yes. K1 is yearly until 18, and K2 is a one-time grant at 18 if you are unmarried and still studying.
What if I marry before receiving the benefit?
Marriage makes the girl ineligible, because the scheme requires her to be unmarried.
What is the income limit?
₹1,20,000 a year, with waivers for orphans, girls with 40%+ disability and JJ Home residents.
Is K3 applied for on the Kanyashree portal?
K3 is a sub-scheme of the SVMCM scholarship, so it is applied for through the Higher Education Department’s SVMCM portal after K2 authentication.
What is the last date?
Dates change each year and are announced by schools/the portal. One directory lists 31 December 2026, but confirm with your institution.
